I probably sound like a idiot. Okay I have 2 last questions how do I know if its updated to its current version? And my second one is say if I did find some mods that were updated and I install them and I put them in the mods folder and startup minecraft and then I get to the main menu and they didn't load in, then I unzip them into the mods folder and they still don't load in what do I do?

I've tried the updated aether mod, the more ore mod etc and it just kept crashing the game so I don't know what I should do at this point. any suggestions on mods I should try and see if they work?

How i do that I'm stupid with stuff like that?

i just recently installed Forge with the install download link and whenever i install a mod it either doesn't load and when it does it goes to the black screen then says my game crashed. Crash Log http://pastebin.com/u4fDtC4K I've tried looking to see whats wrong but i am not smart with java script. i also tried installing different mods after clearing the mods that i had before and the same thing happens.
