I am trying to install a 1.16.5 forge server, but when i try and install it, it just pops up the error message in the title. Can anyone help me?

forge-1.16.5-36.1.32-installer.jar.logFetching info...

Try installing it somewhere other than directly onto your desktop... even a folder ON the desktop would be better

Minecraft 1.14.4 and newer:

Post debug.log

Older versions:

...for Installer Issues:

Post your installer log, found in the same place you ran the installer

This log will be called either installer.log or named the same as the installer but with .log on the end

Note for Windows users:

Windows hides file extensions by default so the installer may appear without the .jar extension then when the .log is added the log will appear with the .jar extension

Where to get it:

Mojang Launcher: When using the Mojang launcher debug.log is found in .minecraft\logs.

Curse/Overwolf: If you are using the Curse Launcher, their configurations break Forge's log settings, fortunately there is an easier workaround than I originally thought, this works even with Curse's installation of the Minecraft launcher as long as it is not launched THROUGH Twitch:

If you don't see logs generated in the usual place, provide the launcher_log.txt from .minecraft

I have, I have tried installing directly on my desktop, and on a folder, nothing worked

Access denied means either another program is exerting control over the files, or you've screwed up your file permissions in some way...
Do you have OneDrive? That Windows bloatware is known to cause issues with a lot of things.

I did have OneDrive, I tried uninstalling, didn't work. I did look into the file that was denied, and found that the .txt file that was denied access was empty. would that have anything to do with it?

Try installing to somewhere that OneDrive never had access to, it doesn't need to still be on the PC for its access rules to screw things up

  Even though I defined this in my gradle.properties, it still gives me the same error, even when I change it in my mods.toml, where: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException ... Caused by: com.electronwill.nightconfig.core.io.ParsingException: Invalid bare key: '${mod_id}' And my mods.toml worked fine before that

  now it dosent get past the loading bar after minecraft launchers and it has the mod name with the percentage bar. it just gets to 98% and freezes
