Java 8 wont run minecraft server for 1.12.2 forge

Had java jdk 16.0 file and deleted it, installed jre 1.8.0_301. Server jars won't run correctly or output why.

this is what I get

'D:\Server>java -Xmx8G -Xms8G -jar server.jar nogui

D:\Server>pause
Press any key to continue . . .'

1st photo is explained above, 2nd is trying to run it without batch and server.jar is the forge server jar

1.12 is no longer supported on this forum.
Please update to a modern version of Minecraft to receive support.

would anyone know what forge version works with java at least??
