Trying to install specific version on a Virtual Machine

To cut to the chase, I'm trying to install a 1.12.2 server onto a virtual machine to play with some friends, since my own PC is kinda weak for the job. I've been able to get as far as installing Java into said VM, but I'm not sure what to actually tell it to download for the real deal. I'm planning six mods and believe I can download those individually, but the server itself stumps me for now. Any advice?

EDIT: The other option is to run a Raspberry Pi 3B or 3B+, but again, can the Forge mod run on the Pi? The only version I've seen requires the GUI for installation, which I'm not convinced the VM or the Pi can use.

    • Why are you doing this instead of just playing the sound using the level or the player method?
    • You can use  event.getEntity().level()
