Hi

My problem is; I've followed a guide on YouTube to get a server setup with forge because some i want to host a game with my friend to play some mods.

We want to play better minecraft FORGE 1.16.5

I'm assuming I would need the minecraft server version 1.16.5 which i got from MCversions.net website.

Followed the guide, installed the server and ran my batch file, allocating RAM and it all works fine - Vanilla 1.16.5

Installed forget 1.16.5 to my client (tested and it works), installed the same version to my folder where my server is BUT here is the tricky part that I don't understand - I was told to double click (open) the forge.jar file that gets dumped into the folder after installation to allow it to create a mod folder and some others, mine doesn't open at all. When I change my batch file to open the newly installed forge.jar file I get an error in the command prompt window below.

If there is something I'm doing wrong, please advise me.

P.s Am i right to assume i would need forge 1.16.5 to run "better minecraft[FORGE] 1.16.5" resource pack?? or will it work with the newest version of forge 1.17.1

Thank you

Java 17 is not supported by forge yet.
Also Minecraft 1.16 requires java 8-15, you currently using java 17
downgrade your java to 8-15 and the problem should be fixed.
