Forge 1.18.1 not coming up

Hi, so I'm not really sure how any of this works so it may be a really easy fix, sorry:)

So I don't seem to have the forge 1.18.1 in my Minecraft launcher installations. I download the forge '1.18.1 - 39.0.0', then put it into my versions folder in documents. It's called 'forge-1.18.1-39.0.0-installer'. Then I go on the Minecraft launcher and go to installations then edit version for forge and 1.18.1 forge isn't coming up. So it seems to be in my versions folder but not in the Minecraft launcher.

Sorry if this doesn't make sense, or is an easy to fix problem, but thank you in advance:)

i managed to get it working but thankyou:)

How did you get it to work? I do not see an executable to run. When I run the command it does nothing. Do I need to have something else installed?

run the installer via the command line and post full output
