Hello, i'm currently trying to run a 1.18 server with forge, the issue, when extracting with java in an empty file, I do not get a .jar but two run files, one .sh and one .bat. Is it intented, and if yes, can I use those files like a .jar.

The .jar file has been moved, you need to run the server via the scrip file (.bat on windows and .sh on mac)

I was having the same problem.  All of the instructions out there say that the result of the install will be a forge jar file in the same directory as the installer.  Did you get a bunch of errors about "Can't find class"?  What version of java did you install?

Our hosting provider is expecting to find a jar file to run directly.  (They name it minecraft_server.jar.)  What options do we have for 1.18.1?

Switch hosting providers or ask them to fix their hosting software.

What should I tell them is broken?
