I'm wondering if there is a way to have multiple start points on a single Advancement tab or if this is not possible? I believe I've seen it somewhere before however I'm not sure if that was via Minecraft version 1.12.2. I am using MC version 1.16.5 for this.

Basically the concept I'm trying to do is something like this:

  • A1 goes to A2 > A3 > A4
  • B1 goes to B2 > B3 > B4

However A and B don't link to each other at all. :) (I have asked in other areas and I've been looking around but I'm just getting vanilla custom packs for advancements that from what I've seen don't have this.)

Thanks in advance,

Yes-ish but also no-ish.

Basically you can only have one "root" advancement (consider it the advancement that unlocks the tab itself), but there are some things you can do to make that advancement invisible.

While I'm pretty sure the node graph is laid out programmatically now, you can still use Reflection to manipulate the placement (and so on) of the displayed UI (I did something similar in the past to create an achievement with two prerequisites that were themselves unrelated).

Old, old code, but you can see that I used reflection to grab the display column and row fields and then set them to specific values for some advancements (mostly vanilla ones to shove them aside for my own). The fakeIronBar advancement sits behind the vanilla iron bar advancement so it looks like there's two arrows pointing at the same thing, but in reality there's only one pre-req per icon.

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable.  If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME.  Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.

Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked.

DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.

I haven't quite messed around with reflection itself as much as other parts of Java right now, I'm still going through and learning what I can honestly. Reflection seems scary to the point I don't want to try it since I know I'll kill my ram or something silly.

However it is something I'm going to try learning after I learn more for now. However thanks for the input and letting me know. :)

    • Hey everyone! Two of my friends downloaded this modpack and are having an issue with the blocks loading in correctly. Grass looks like bamboo, waystones look like two barrels stacked on eachother, and wheat looks like water and stairs. What is this problem? How can we fix it? Neither of my other friends or myself had this issue.
    • I removed Yung's cave biome mod and It wasnt in one of those biomes however the log file said the same line (([25Apr2025 21:20:15.500] [Flywheel Task Executor #5/WARN] [Embeddium-MixinTaintDetector/]: Mod(s) [oculus] are modifying Embeddium class me.jellysquid.mods.sodium.client.render.vertex.serializers.VertexSerializerRegistryImpl, which may cause instability.))
    • Note: i had a couple of ideas, but i just don't know how to execute them. The main idea was to make the new block (let's exemplify with a mixer) be essentially a clone of the mechanical mixer (different texture tho) that would have a different recipe type (instead of mixing, advanced_mixing) and i would copy all the create mod recipes and edit the processing time while also adding the tier dependent ones.
    • Hi! Before everything, thank you for even reading. I'm coming here in need of help making a few aspects for a create mod addon. It's an addon that aims to add almost the full periodic table with realistic ways of obtaining all the elements and capability of almost full automation. For what purpose? A techy armor and to go to the moon and rocky planets of the solar system. It'll have 3 different tiers of machines (mixer, millstone, crushing wheels): basic (just the normal create mod machines but renamed), advanced (25% faster and has recipes only possible for this tier and above) end elite (75% faster than basic and recipes only available for this tier). The problem is, I'm not a coder. I know less than the basics. I know how to do everything else but these machine tiers and i need some help if you can.
