Posted July 4, 20223 yr Hello everyone, i am a beginner mod developer, and i made a client-sided mod for a multiplayer server. And i was wondering, can i add a feature, that shows other players, that uses my mod? Like in lunar client, you can see a tiny logo near a player name. I don't know, how can it be realised (maybe put some information in player entity, like nbt, that others mod users can read), please help!

July 12, 20223 yr Author I figured out how to do this by myself, so I will post it here for everybody. So basically what I did is I created a RestApi with python, and a database on mysql. Than on ServerJoinEvent (and once in 5 minutes in-game) i send a query to my restapi (like domain/userTick?=[uuid, player_name]), that's adding a row to my table. And every player also every 5 minutes requests a query (like domain/getActiveUsers), that returns all rows in database where TIMEDIFF <= 5 minutes. So than i just change tab list and display name of every player that is in my ActiveUsers list. It is a little bit tricky, but works well enough! No server support needed!
July 12, 20223 yr You need to get people's informed permission to collect data about them. And having an open rest endpoint that anybody can query isn't good either (even if the data might seem trivial). Boilerplate: If you don't post your logs/debug.log we can't help you. For curseforge you need to enable the forge debug.log in its minecraft settings. You should also post your crash report if you have one. If there is no error in the log file and you don't have a crash report then post the launcher_log.txt from the minecraft folder. Again for curseforge this will be in your curseforge/minecraft/Install Large files should be posted to a file sharing site like https://gist.github.com You should also read the support forum sticky post.

Well, i guess you can add text to mcmod.info, but actually nobody cares) If you using a mod and see other players with same mod, it must have some kind of data collection And also nobody sees what queries are sent to api, so they can't abuse it if done correctly Edited July 13, 20223 yr by DimChig
