Invalid Checksum error installing Forge client

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I wanna install a Forge client, but whenever i want to install it, the installer immediately pops up error message saying "Downloading minecraft client failed, invalid checksum."

I heard that it is a DNS issue and that it can be solved by just changing the DNS settings. Did it work for me? Ofcourse not!

So do you guys have any tips?

Thanks for help

This is usually caused by having a very old version of java installed. Try updating it, or downloading a more recent release: https://adoptium.net/

It can also be caused by wrong  configuration in your hosts file. c:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts or /etc/hosts on other OSes.

Boilerplate:

If you don't post your logs/debug.log we can't help you. For curseforge you need to enable the forge debug.log in its minecraft settings. You should also post your crash report if you have one.

If there is no error in the log file and you don't have a crash report then post the launcher_log.txt from the minecraft folder. Again for curseforge this will be in your curseforge/minecraft/Install

Large files should be posted to a file sharing site like https://gist.github.com  You should also read the support forum sticky post.
