im using hosthorde as the server provider, with multicraft, using filezilla to upload files and hopefully eventually the mods. a few weird problems, not sure what the cause is. when i put the installed forge jar and libraries into the server folder in filezilla, then start the server .. it SHOULD go through the modloader setup process like a normal server, shouldnt it?

instead it says 'missing libraries'.. but all the files that forge can install are there, so there has to be some weird problem that i cant see.

another thing is that in multicraft, you type in the jar you want to be loaded, and it has to be in the 'jar' folder in the server folder. if that means anything.

has anyone done this process or a similar one with a hosted server? i havent been able to find anyone who has been trying the same thing, my friends and i have been researching for weeks. is it just not even possible?

make a new folder in your desktop, name it "server", run the installer, select this folder, click "install server" open the folder server, select all files and upload all in your FTP.

I installed using the same method and copied the libraries folder over.  Have you verified you installed the client correctly as well? I have an Aether server at 87.98.172.163:26004
