DrNickenstein Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 attackDamage is a final variable defined in the SwordItem class, so I cannot change it in the usual way, how would you go about changing it? Quote
warjort Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 If its your sword, you pass it into the constructor. Otherwise you can apply attribute modifiers for ATTRIBUTES.ATTACK_DAMAGE on the ItemStack. Either directly or using ItemAttributeModifierEvent Quote Boilerplate: If you don't post your logs/debug.log we can't help you. For curseforge you need to enable the forge debug.log in its minecraft settings. You should also post your crash report if you have one. If there is no error in the log file and you don't have a crash report then post the launcher_log.txt from the minecraft folder. Again for curseforge this will be in your curseforge/minecraft/Install Large files should be posted to a file sharing site like https://gist.github.com You should also read the support forum sticky post.

It is my sword and I'm passing the initial value in the constructor in my initialization class. However I want to change it further under some conditions Quote
SoLegendary Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 If you want to apply conditional damage (eg, bonus against a particular enemy) I'd suggest using LivingDamageEvent, where you can get the entity being damaged, the source of the damage, and get/set the amount of damage. Quote
