[i'm newbie] I'm Trying to make a Waterlogged Grindstone and i don't know what am i doing wrong

This is my first mod so I'm pretty inexperienced, I'm trying to create some things to work underwater, like a water flower, armor and tools, enchantment table, bookshelves, anvil and grindstone. I've already managed to make some advances but I'm still quite a newbie, so I wanted to start with what I thought wouldn't be that difficult, the grindstone. I created a java class for it and extended GrindstoneBlock and implemented SimpleWaterloggedBlock, I didn't know where to start so I saw some blocks that are waterloggable (just like I also read SimpleWaterloggedBlock), but I tried to make my block and something it's going wrong, but I don't know what it is and the crash report screen scares me with so much information, so I don't know where to look for what's wrong, can someone help me?

§7java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Cannot set property DirectionProperty{name=facing, clazz=class net.minecraft.core.Direction, values=[north, south, west, east]} as it does not exist in Block{minecraft:air}

Look at what the GrindstoneBlock constructor does. i.e. what properties it uses.

Then look at what BlockState properties you have configured in your createBlockStateDefinition() compared to the GrindstoneBlock's version.

Some advice:

* Most vanilla blocks are not designed to be extended by mods. Mojang hardwire things. There is probably a good reason why the Grindstone is not already waterloggable?

* If the class is not Abstract or already being extended by some other vanilla class, you are probably going to find it difficult to make this work unless you know what you are doing.

* Learn how to mod minecraft on something simpler, then come back to this example when you understand how BlockState properties (facing, waterlogged, etc.), models, Shapes and Container Menus/Screens work.

* You need to learn how to read java stacktraces, use the logs/debug.log file and/or use your IDE's debugger. We don't answer basic java questions in this forum.  In this case, the debug.log (which you don't show) will have a much simpler stacktrace pointing to the exact line of code causing the problem in that GrindstoneBlock constructor.

Boilerplate:

If you don't post your logs/debug.log we can't help you. For curseforge you need to enable the forge debug.log in its minecraft settings. You should also post your crash report if you have one.

If there is no error in the log file and you don't have a crash report then post the launcher_log.txt from the minecraft folder. Again for curseforge this will be in your curseforge/minecraft/Install

Large files should be posted to a file sharing site like https://gist.github.com  You should also read the support forum sticky post.

*First of all, thank you, because of what you pointed out, I managed to make even more progress and now I know where to start fixing this problem (and any problems that I will have later on)

*Second,actually I'm making a new block and not trying to replace a minecraft block because I know I don't have the knowledge for that.

*Third, I didn't know about this forum rule, I thought I could get some help since I love to program but I've never taken a class on it and everything I know I'm learning the hard way.

But I want to share a success here, I managed to make a first progress. (it still only stays in that position and if I aim at the ground, in addition to just opening the grindstone menu for half a second, but I already know where to start to solve this)image.png

    • Minecraft Version: 1.8-1.20.X Forge Version: All (Tested on 49.0.27, 11.14.4.1577 and some others) Steps to Reproduce: Setup a server with IPV6 only Setup a docker container with forge Try to connect to the Forge Server Description of issue: Hello, I am reaching out to seek your expertise within this forum to clarify a technical situation I am encountering, suspecting a potential issue related to Forge in a Docker environment, specifically in an IPv6 context. Initial Configuration: Debian 12 server, configured exclusively for IPv6, with Docker installed. Using the Docker image ghcr.io/pterodactyl/yolks:java_17, launching a Minecraft Vanilla server version 1.20.4 proceeds without any issues. Problem: The issue arises when deploying a Minecraft Forge server version 1.20.4 with the same Docker image (ghcr.io/pterodactyl/yolks:java_17), where connecting to the server becomes impossible. Notably, this issue does not occur when launching outside of Docker, where the server functions as expected. Hypothesis: This situation leads me to question the interaction between Forge and Docker, particularly in an IPv6-only configuration, despite several resolution attempts (testing with different versions of Forge, adjusting container network configurations (0.0.0.0, ::/0, and the server's ipv6), trials with various network settings, and modifications of Java options). Further testing was conducted with and without the use of the Pterodactyl game panel, unsuccessfully. The parameter -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=false also did not provide a solution. I tried to do the same things on multiple Minecraft server (include vanilla,spigot,fabric,sponge) and this work fine. The problem only happend with Forge. This issue seem to happend on all forge versions.   I appreciate your time and assistance in advance.
