Posted October 14, 201311 yr Hey guys, it's been a while since I've modded minecraft and I want to get back into it as a hobby. I was wondering how I'd go about overwriting minecrafts vanilla settings on armour and tools. Basically, add some armour bars/health bars, add new tool levels and change the stats on the pre existing sets to tools and armor. My answer might be answered by looking at the libraries but I can't access my workspace at the moment so if anyone knows off the top of their head, that'd be awesome. This could be a crazy easy thing to do but it'd be great if anyone could help, thanks!
October 15, 201311 yr Basically, you're going to need to overwrite the item in the Item.itemsList array with your new item. Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable. If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME. Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice. Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked. DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.
October 16, 201311 yr Considering most of the tool data are held into Enum, they are a pain to edit. But it is doable. You can use EnumHelper to help you with that. You may also want to look at MinecraftForge#setToolHarvestLevel(args) and the like.
October 20, 201311 yr As for how to modify the HUD armor/health bar, you can intercept the RenderGameOverlayEvent and return event.setCanceled(true) for event.type.equals(ElementType.Armor) and event.type.equals(ElementType.Health). Then you can render whatever the hell you want for an armor bars and health bars.
