texture pack 512x512 not able to load

I recently installed forge with optifine on 1.6.4 minecraft because 1.7 is not out yet. There has been a problem for me loading the 512x512 Sphax PureBDcraft texture pack. As soon as I clicked the texture pack, minecraft freezes a while and then it reverts back to the default texture pack. This only happens with texture packs above 128x128. 128x128 works fine. Vanilla minecraft works perfectly with the 512x512 texture pack, it shows minecraft not responding for a minute and then the texture pack loads up. Optifine+Forge+GLSL doesn't work.

I do have the GLSL shaders mod installed with the sonic ethers shaderspack.

 

My minecraft has been allocated 8gb of ram and it still reverts back to default everytime I click on the 512x512 texture pack.

 

System specs:

Intel core i7 4770k 3.5gHz

GeForce GTX770 overclocked Direct CU II

Corsair vengeance DDR3 16GB RAM

1TB Western Digital Sata hard disk

128gb Corsair Neutron SSD

 

Any help given will be very appreciated

Console logs would probably help. However, it sounds to me like your setup can't handle 512x for some reason, and btw 512x is FUCKING HUGE, why in gods name would you need that much ? I'm gunna guess at most your screen is 1900x1600, which means you can see 4x3 blocks on screen at that resolution anything high is just silly.

I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated.

Interesting, its not telling us anything, If there is an error, something is swallowing it.

But either way, i'm gunna blame this on the fact your computer can't handle 512 textures.

Hahah alright. I'll try other ways maybe. But is there any way I could manage to force forge not to reload the default texture pack, and instead maybe wait till minecraft responds itself.

 

512x512 definitely works. I ran it on vanilla minecraft with no optifine or anything and it runs stablely with 60-80fps with the highest settings possible. It consumes only 500-700mb of ram.
