Copy %appdata%/.minecraft/versions/1.5.2

to:

%appdata%/.minecraft/versions/1.5.2-Forge

Inside this folder:

Rename from '1.5.2.jar' to '1.5.2-Forge.jar'

Rename from '1.5.2.json' to '1.5.2-Forge.json'

Install forge into 1.5.2-Forge.jar like you always would for 1.5

Edit 1.5.2-Forge.json to change the 'id' value from "1.5.2" to "1.5.2-Forge"

Create a new profile in the launcher, and change it's game directory to %appdata%/.minecraft/versions/1.5.2-Forge

Now this is hard and complicated but i'm pretty sure it'll work.

Forge for 1.5.2 came out before the new launcher existed so the install is kind a pain.

If you can't figure it out, then go try installing MultiMC it should be able to setup everything for you it's just a different launcher.

Sorry to bring this up again, I know this is an old thread but this is exactly what I would like to do.

So I instaled Forge 1.6.4 in the new launcher 1.3.7 and added some mods. But I have another modpack from 1.5.2 that I would like to run from another profile.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, when I install Forge 1.5.2, it creates a new profile (so far so good) but will look for mods in the same directory as the newer version correct?

Both will try to find mods from ".minecraft/mods/". I read something about creating a new game directory, but idk if that is the case since both are in the versions folder from the same game directory.

Again this must be a stupid question, I'm sorry but I just started to learn these things a couble days ago.

Edit: I installed both Forge versions from the the installers.

1.6.4: http://files.minecraftforge.net/maven/net/minecraftforge/forge/1.6.4-9.11.1.965/forge-1.6.4-9.11.1.965-installer.jar

1.5.2: http://files.minecraftforge.net/minecraftforge/minecraftforge-installer-1.5.2-7.8.1.737.jar

@loordgek shut up, there's 965 and that's usable.

@OP I recommend direwolf20's video for running multiple modded mc versions in parallel, it's in the eaq.

Read the EAQ before posting! OR ELSE!

This isn't building better software, its trying to grab a place in the commit list of a highly visible github project.

Thank you very much, I had no idea the game dir option created another instance of the game.
