Hi Everyone!

 

I was wondering, using forge is it possible to get certain block types from all installed mods, for example if the user installs Biomes O' Plenty and the user uses a item to change oak wood into cheery wood, it would change. Is this possible without manually getting the ids?

Does forge have a dictionary for planks, logs e.t.c or do I have to manually set the ids when the other mod is loaded?

Forge contains something called the Ore Dictionary which is specifically intended for sharing crafting materials between mods.

Ores: OreDictionary, ShapedOreRecipes, ShapelessOreRecipes

 

Alternatively, if you know what the Block is called you can probably used GameRegistry.findBlock to retrieve it.  Likewise GameRegistry.findItem.

 

Never used any of them myself so I'm not sure of details.
