game crashed: rendering overlay

Hey all. First time posting here, hope you can help. My son attempted to launch Cobblemon 1.5.2.1 via CurseForge this morning. Minecraft Launcher starts but after clicking PLAY and the Minecraft Forge Loading window going throw its motions, we get the following error message. Can anyone help us with a fix, please?

Error: com.google.gson.JsonSyntaxException: com.google.gson.stream.MalformedJsonException: Unterminated array at line 22 column 2 path $.variations[2]

Looks like an issue with cobblemon itself - report it to the creators
