How to use Minecraft previous versions (to use Forge for Minecraft 1.72)?????

Hi everyone! I'm new to the forums - I registered to find out how can I be able to get Minecraft  version 1.72 in order to try out the latest version of Minecraft Forge.

I know I have to click on "Edit Profile" in the Minecraft Launcher, then tick the boxes in order to use alpha & beta previous versions, but the only version that shows in the drop-down menu afterwards is 1.74.

If anyone knows how to walk around this I'd be glad!

PS: should I create a new profile and change the game directory as the warning messages suggest?

Many thanks!!!

Thanks michael2mandy!!!

However, I have tried that sadly with no results - the only version that shows in the drop-down menu is 1.74.

When I installed minecraft on this computer the current minecraft version already was 1.74.

Where did you download the launcher you're using? Please post full logs and screenshots.

I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated.
