I'm trying to get my mob to perform an action upon killing a player. I had thought that overriding the onKillEntity() method was the way to do this, but it seem it's not invoked for players. I put a diagnostic print at the top of the function and tested with various mobs; everything worked perfectly. The method is simply not called for players. (Forge versions used: 10.12.0.1024 and 10.12.0.1033)

Is this intentional? If so, what is the correct way for my mob to be notified of player kills?

That was fast!

It feels a bit clunky to have a chunk of my mob code stuffed into an event handler, but it works. Still curious as to why the Vanilla mechanism doesn't report player kills.
