Welcome to Project Better Minecraft,

this is my series to improve the vanilla gameplay and also make it a bit more challenging.

Let's get started with the mods:

Better Furnace Enhanced

IMPORTANT *Overrides the old furnace Recipe(all vanilla furnaces will stay the same. So you have to craft the new one! Just craft a furnace like u always did.)*

Better Furnace Enhanced (BFE) improves the vanilla furnace in many ways and adds a bit more realism. This mod can will increase smelting/cooking times and these times also differ from each other!

Higher smelting/cooking times also mean, that fuels will be more valuable than before, because you will need more fuels than before adds more challenge with it to harvest new fuels.

(Everything is hardcoded, so you cant the cooking/smelting times. Futureplan is to add a gui to adjust everything.)

Features of this mod:

* When the furnace runs out of fuel, the progress is not lost! Just throw in a new fuel and the progress will continue.

* This furnace now recognizes, recipes which consume more items while smelting. (This is used by my second mod and could be interesting for other modders, too)

* Do you have a recipe which uses a water bucket? A empty bucket is returned after smelting!

* Smelting times now differ and add a bit more "realism":

*Note* With higher smelting times, the coal consumption increases!

The vanilla furnace has 200 ticks to smelt an item. So for example to smelt sand it takes 3 times longer because it takes now 600 ticks!

Item - ticks to smelt

--Blocks

- Iron Ore 900;

- DiamondOre 1200;

- Redstone Ore 1000;

- Emerald Ore 900;

- Quartz Ore 1200;

- Coal Ore 400;

- Gold Ore 1000;

- Cobblestone800;

- Sand 600;

- Logs(Oak, Birch wood etc) 400;

- Netherrack 900;

- Cactus 400;

- Clay 800;

--Items

- Pork chop 350;

- Chicken 250;

- Beef 300;

- Fish 225;

- Potato 200;

- Clay balls 700;

* Fuels are tweaked to fit better the new cooking times:

*Example: You need 3 Woodenblocks to create 1 iron ingot(Wooden blocks tick time: 300; Iron Ore needs 900)*

Wooden slab 150;

Wooden Blocks 300;

Coal _block 26400

Wooden tools/Weapons 250;

Sticks 150;

Coal 2400;

Lava Bucket  30000;

Sapling 150;

Blaze Rod 3000;

How to Install & Uninstall

Install:

Drop the downloaded .jar into your mods folder! You need to craft a new furnace and replace the old one! (Same recipe) Done!

Uninstall:

Remove all none vanilla items added by this mod ingame! After that, you are free to delete this mod.

Better Recipes

*Note this mod requires BFE*

The goal with Better Recipes (BR) is to make iron and gold more valuable.

This mod also adds fried eggs! Yay!

With this mod installed you need at least 3 iron blocks to smelt 1 iron ingot.

Changed recipes:

Iron Ingot 1x = Iron Ore x3

Gold Ingot 1x = Gold Ore x4

New recipe:

Fried Egg 1x = Egg x1 || Restores 4 hunger points(2 full hunger points)

Better Equipment

I was getting bored, wandering around with a diamond armor and i was nearly invulnerable.

And every equipment related to gold is useless. I made it similiar to diamond but it has less durability than a iron armor, so it breaks faster! It will give you a good protection for a some time! (more details below)

This is my try to overhaul some equipment pieces, to make the game still challenging, this includes:

*Iron Armor,

*Gold Armor,

*Diamond Armor,

*Gold Weapons&Tools (excluding hoe)

What changed:

- Iron Armor now provides a new armor rating of 11 (Helmet 2, Chest 4, Legs 3, Boots 2),

  Durability is 16 (like the old one)

- Golden Armor now provides a new armor rating of 15 (Helmet 3, Chest 5, Legs 4, Boots 3),

Durability is now 13 (changed to make it more useful)

- Diamond Armor now provides a new armor rating of 15 (Helmet 3, Chest 5, Legs 4, Boots 3),

Durability is 33 (like the old one)

-Golden Tools and Weapons

Durability is now 155, (Iron has 250 && Stone 131, so its between of them and gives a fine balance)

Haverest level is now 3 (Obsidian)

Haverest speed is now 6,5 (Iron has 6 and Diamond has 8.)

Echantinglevel remains at 22 for golden armor, tools and weapons

How to Install & Uninstall

Install:

Drop the downloaded .jar into your mods folder! You have to craft the new armors like the old ones! (THIS MOD DOES NOT AFFECT THE OLD ARMORS!) Done!

Uninstall:

It's not recommed to delete this mod, all new items are also replaced with the one you can find in chests! But if you really want to:

Remove all none vanilla items added by this mod ingame! After that, you are free to delete this mod. If you find a chest that was generated with this mod and it contains a modded item, it will crash your game!

*Note as always, mods which add items, "can" corrupt a save game, so be careful while uninstalling!*

Better Patched Leather

*Note this mod will not return a bucket if you use the vanilla furnace!*

Better Patched Leather is a mod, which allows you to get salt! FASCINATING!

Well.... not quite... but now you can turn rotten flesh into leather!!

So if you like cows and hate zombies, there you go.

"Long live the mighty cow king!"

Fancy. The idea of fuel running out but progress remains sounds so nice.

Do you have any other vanilla improvement ideas?

Communication is a vital tool, in the game industry you won't go anywhere without it. People are either going to learn to talk, or move on.

Well... its pretty hard to find improvements without changing too much.

I liked MC much more when resources like coal/iron were rare. Ofc you can overhaul the ore generation but, if someone else like that idea and has an existing world, it was the best idea to make the furnace consume more.

But atm, i have no idea, what i can "improve". Maybe i should release the furnace without increased consumption and time changes? Don't know

    • Please post logs as described in the FAQ (https://forums.minecraftforge.net/topic/125488-rules-and-frequently-asked-questions-faq/), they will contain information that may help.
    • I've been trying to find a solution for this for the past few days and cant seem to find it anywhere.   What i want to do is basically set my player's head pitch without the server noticing it. Basically client-side change.   Is there a way to do this? With mixins or anything else?   Thanks in advance.
    • Did you ever find a solution to this
    • I have followed a tutorial on how to generate ores for my mod though the data files have not been generated despite me running data in my IDE.  I have looked over and compared my code multiple times and the only differences are either with the IDs or with unnecessary code because of what my mod is (The mod is for the End so I don't need the Overworld or Nether ores), my folders are all in the right structure and no warnings are present when ran. I have been trying to figure this out for a few days now so help would be much appreciated.  The tutorial I was following.  My code -  public class ModBiomeModifiers { public static final ResourceKey<BiomeModifier> ADD_GAZITE_ORE = registerKey("add_gazite_ore");
