Using the game directory option

I have been trying to make a profile using a different game directory, but it seems to be ignoring that. It is still using the mods from the .minecraft\mods folder, and not the new folder. Also, if I set the game directory to be a folder called, say, my-directory, would I want to put my mods in that folder or in the my-directory\mods folder? (I have tried both and neither seem to work.)

Yes, it works, as long as you've installed forge correctly {using our installer} and are using the default launcher.
