Alright, so first off, I'm running a mac just in case that is needed.

Now, I recently attempted to get Forge working so I could use some mods.

Thing is, the sound doesn't work. It's automatically off and attempting to get it activated leads to a game crash. At first, I had optifine running with the Jenkin's Build #225 so I could use Optifine. Then I got the crash. Next I tried getting sound running without Optifine or any other possible mods. It crashed again.

Here is the crash report for the Forge without any other mods installed since that seems to be the main cause, I think.

There's actually two. First one that popped up on the Crash Page when the Minecraft program initially crashes then the second from the log folder. Just in case there are differences.

So yeah, no idea what's happening or what I'm doing wrong. I went ahead at one point and installed Forge and Mods by the instructions using the Universal ways, due to the installer not being compatible with my Mac. Then played without sound. Mods worked beautifully with Forge. Just no sound.

The problem is you're on a mac and you don't know how to merge folders instead of replacing them.

So, try harder do better, install without deleting 1/2 your sound system.

I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated.
