Forge cannot locate "main class files"

So i decided to make a private forge server to play with my sibling, but whenever I try to run forge, (I've tried recommended, latest, and others), instead of getting that nifty GUI. A text similar to command prompt pops up for like 1/2 of a second displaying: "Error: unable to locate main class files c:/users/[username]/downloads/forge[version]" Can you please help? Oh and by the way, I run windows 8.1, and This was for 1.7.2.

What exe downloader? I have never seen one, could you give me a link for 1.7.2?

installer-win is the exe one.

Hold on, wait a minute. So are you saying that the server you are trying to run is crashing or failing to work properly? If this is the case, then it should have nothing to do with a warning message. Could you be a little more specific as to what's going on? Are you just annoyed that there are some warning messages being displayed? (I mean, if that's the case then I can totally understand.) Again, I notice that you use the word "attempted" when referring to launching the forge server. This gives me the impression that something is going much more wrongly than a warning.

i am playing on a linux mint distro, and am attempting to run a forge 1.20.1 server

this seems to be the relevant warning message:
