Elite_Forges Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 I haven't been able to find a single way to change the color of the in-game name (The text you see when you hover over an item or block). I use the en_US.lang way of naming items since that's apparently what you have to do these days in 1.7. Can somebody please at least point me to the right direction with what I should do? Quote
Nicba1010 Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 I don't know, try putting the Chat color signs maybe. Quote
TehSeph Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 I don't know, try putting the Chat color signs maybe. This works. All formatting codes should work, but be safe and reset at the end of the name. Quote
Elite_Forges Posted August 8, 2014 Author Posted August 8, 2014 I've tried that and it didn't work. Am I doing something wrong? tile.copperOre.name=&aCopper Ore in en_US.lang? Quote
TehSeph Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Use the "section sign" character (§), not an "ampersand" (&). And remember to reset at the end. tile.copperOre.name=§aCopper Ore§r Quote
Elite_Forges Posted August 8, 2014 Author Posted August 8, 2014 I tried that as you were replying, no luck there either. Quote
LazerBeans Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 What is your .setBlockName(String) set to? If it's set to "copperOre", then the name should work. If it's set to "oreCopper", it won't. Your .setBlockName(String) needs to be equivalent to what is in the lang file. Check that to make sure it works (or not). I was able to use '§' to change the coloring of an Item, Block, and Creative Tab, so it isn't a problem with the '§'. Quote Developer of small, unreleased, basic, and incomplete mods since 2014!
Elite_Forges Posted August 8, 2014 Author Posted August 8, 2014 Ok so My en_US.lang copper ore looks like tile.oreCopper.name=§aCopper Ore§r And I've had the block name set to .setBlockName(oreCopper); And It's being registered into the game with GameRegistry.registerBlock(Stuff.oreCopper, "oreCopper"); I don't get why it isn't working. Unless I'm missing something I've done what you did. Yet shows up like this in-game. Quote
LazerBeans Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Is the block name set to .setBlockName(oreCopper), ore .setBlockName("oreCopper")? Make sure that the parameter is a string. Quote Developer of small, unreleased, basic, and incomplete mods since 2014!

TehSeph Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Make sure you are encoding with UTF-8. That'll do it. Also make sure your blockname and .lang file match. The screenshot under my last post shows they're not. Quote
Elite_Forges Posted August 8, 2014 Author Posted August 8, 2014 Could you give me an example of how I'd write it in the en_US.lang? I've tried a number of different things. I've only ever used the \u00A7 thing in servers.. Quote

Elite_Forges Posted August 8, 2014 Author Posted August 8, 2014 Thank you!! That's all I needed to know! I've got it working, sorry for the trouble guys! For anybody reading this in the future, set the encoding for the en_US.lang file to UTF-8 then use the Section Symbol ( § ) followed by a color code to change the color. An example of this is " §aCopper Ore", that will result in lime green. To set the encoding of the file (In eclipse) right-click it in the package explorer and go to "Properties" and you can find it there.
