Ok a bit of a weird problem..Just got a new PC with Win 8.1 on

Loaded up launcher & started with VANILLA 1.7.10 for a multiplayer game (this is a CLEAN install)... & it sees all servers I have added/listed [Theses are play.mcdaily.net, Flymc.net and play.mcball.net]

> I then use 'recommended Forge' (1108) & installed it - tried Multiplayer and  one of my listed server show 'Cannot Resolve host' (play.mcdaily.net) but the other 2 servers are fine

> I then redone with 'latest' Forge (1208) - same thing. 1 server 'Cannot resolve host' (same one - play.mcdaily.net) while the other 2 are fine

I even cleared out the MOD folder just in case of some conflict, but same thing

I read it MIGHT be Java version e.g. v8 instead of v7 - but I have '1.7_67.b01' (64-bit) installed

Even wiped out minecraft folder & re-installed.. same thing 'Vanilla works fine (even 1.8 ) but as soon as I add forge.. that one server has 'cannot resolve host'

Any idea why Minecraft doesn't work with forge added for that one server ??

The weird thing (IFAIK) is all 3 servers are 'hosted' by the same company.. so why does 2 show ok - while the third doesn't

Any help appreciated - & thanks in advance

I'm not sure I understand what you mean...

How am I suppose to resolve the server from outside the launcher ? Its not that I can simply type it into a web browser..

If you mean can I ping it from a command prompt - yep I can

And as said before - I can connect using Vanilla 1.7.10 ( and vanilla 1.8 ) but as soon as I install Forge into 1.7.10 (regardless of recommended/latest).. I can't 'resolve the hostname'.

It seems something in Forge is preventing Minecraft from getting server host name when used in Windows 8.1 (btw this all works fine on Windows XP before I updated PC)
