[1.7.10] Trying to use lang file but nothing happens

I am trying to get the language file working but no matter where I put it it doesn't work

itemGroup.AeroTab = Testing Ass
tile.Log.Citrus.name = Citrus log

This is the code in the lang file, I know the spellings are right because that is what I see in minecraft

I've tried putting it in

forge\src\aerosteam\assets\aerosteam

forge\src\main\resources\assets\aerosteam

and some others, none is working, what am I doing stupid?
