As we know, there is one thing called Bukkit providing various API for plugin development, which also caused incompatibility to SMP mods.

In days of 1.2.5, cpw ported Forge Mod Loader so many mods can be ported( in fact i don't know how ported, maybe function mapping or something else? ). However in 1.3.2, Forge itself is rewritten and hard to port, as well as people are expecting Minecraft 1.4 API which again proved be a joke (DELAYED).

So, is it scheduled that forge support Server-Side API ( some more convenient hooks like BlockBreakEvent and BlockPlaceEvent )? So developers can program plugin for vanilla servers.

Always not rely on OFFICIAL API. No one knows when will it born, and what a monster it will be.
