Posted December 14, 201410 yr Thank you to anyone who can help me with this... I feel that the answer to this is something silly, but I just can't figure it out... I'm trying to get a structure to automatically get created when you click on a button in a new gui I created when interacting with a new entity that I created. The structure builds correctly, but after I re-log, it's gone. I'm thinking that it's being created on the client side, but not saving on the server side? The reason I'm thinking that is that if I add "if (!Minecraft.getMinecraft().theWorld.isRemote())" Then the structure doesn't generate. When I remove that, the above problem happens... Here's the code that I'm using to generate a structure... package com.persvillagers.village1; import net.minecraft.client.Minecraft; import net.minecraft.init.Blocks; import net.minecraft.util.BlockPos; public class BurningHouse { public static Minecraft mc = Minecraft.getMinecraft(); public void generate() { BlockPos playerPos = mc.thePlayer.getPosition(); int x = playerPos.getX(); int y = playerPos.getY(); int z = playerPos.getZ(); BlockPos startingPos = new BlockPos(x - 20, y, z - 20); int offset = 0; while (mc.theWorld.isAirBlock(startingPos) && startingPos.getY() > 2) { ++offset; startingPos = new BlockPos(startingPos.getX(), startingPos.getY() - 1, startingPos.getZ()); } for (int var0 = 0; var0 < 5; ++var0) { for (int var1 = 0; var1 < 5; ++var1) { BlockPos wall1 = new BlockPos(startingPos.getX() + var0, startingPos.getY() + 20, startingPos.getZ() + var1); mc.theWorld.destroyBlock(wall1, false); mc.theWorld.setBlockState(wall1, Blocks.planks.getDefaultState()); } } } }
December 14, 201410 yr Author Thank you for pinpointing the problem I figured out how to modify it on the server instead of the client. This will also help with many gui issues I've had in the past that I just couldn't figure out.
December 15, 201410 yr ican see you bether understanding of the block pos() method i do not and have to simplifique pos() to minimun and do this . http://www.minecraftforge.net/forum/index.php/topic,25975.0.html m extructure works but i dont understand how to set blocks orientation
December 16, 201410 yr Author I didn't use packets directly, I used "MinecraftServer.getServer().getEntityWorld()" to get the server world. It seems to work/save fine. Will this cause issues in the future?
December 16, 201410 yr Author well thanks for the update. I'd rather find out now then when I'm actually testing the stand alone server and have no way to find out where to start looking. I'm looking at the base code, and found this packet : C08PacketPlayerBlockPlacement Can I start working with this, or am I going completely in the wrong direction?
December 16, 201410 yr or am I going completely in the wrong direction? Wrong direction. Implement your own packets and packet handler. Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable. If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME. Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice. Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked. DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.
December 16, 201410 yr Author well thank you all for the help. I'll start looking into how to get this done now. This is quite the learning curve for me.
