Posted December 28, 201410 yr Hey guys, does anybody knows how to make an entity that casts light, like a torch does? Hava look at my Mod: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods/wip-mods/2196915-real-life-mod-realistic-cars-furniture-tvs http://i.imgur.com/N7yc3D8.png[/img]
December 28, 201410 yr I made items that did it by creating an invisible, light casting block, above the player's head (then saving that location so it could be removed later).but yeah, it's laggy. I avoided that by only updating the block every five meters or so. Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable. If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME. Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice. Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked. DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.
December 29, 201410 yr In your entity's onUpdate, you can also add something like this (in 1.7.x, at least): int x = MathHelper.floor_double(lastTickPosX); int y = MathHelper.floor_double(lastTickPosY); int z = MathHelper.floor_double(lastTickPosZ); worldObj.updateLightByType(EnumSkyBlock.Block, x, y, z); worldObj.setLightValue(EnumSkyBlock.Block, x, y, z, 15); worldObj.markBlockRangeForRenderUpdate(x, y, z, 12, 12, 12); It works for the most part, but like the others have said before me, it's far from ideal in the performance realm. http://i.imgur.com/NdrFdld.png[/img]
