Hey guys, Lately I've been making a practice mod to learn java. I wanted to mess around with some stuff. I wanted to make my item do something on Right Click but I wanted to make sure the event was being called first, I checked the console, Nothing was printed.

package com.skullcrusher.practicemod.items;

import cpw.mods.fml.common.eventhandler.SubscribeEvent;

import net.minecraft.block.Block;

import net.minecraft.creativetab.CreativeTabs;

import net.minecraft.entity.Entity;

import net.minecraft.entity.EntityLivingBase;

import net.minecraft.entity.player.EntityPlayer;

import net.minecraft.item.Item;

import net.minecraft.item.ItemStack;

import net.minecraft.util.ChatComponentStyle;

import net.minecraft.world.World;

import tv.twitch.chat.Chat;

public class LikeButton extends Item {

public ItemStack onItemRightClick(){

System.out.println("Item Has been right clicked");

return null;

}

If someone could tell me what I did wrong that would be greatly appreciated. I know theres nothing else in there besides the print and return statement. I just wanted to make sure that this is the correct syntax.

public ItemStack onItemRightClick()

You have to @Override parent (super) method!

@Override
public ItemStack onItemRightClick(ItemStack itemStackIn, World worldIn, EntityPlayer playerIn)
    {
        return itemStackIn;
    }

1.7.10 is no longer supported by forge, you are on your own.

Ah ok, Thanks :D I thought I didn't have anything in the parenthesis since there was nothing in the method.

That is not how that works.

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable.  If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME.  Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.

Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked.

DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.
