This is the first time I've used Forge, just to see if it was any better than Risugami's ModLoader, and also since Risugami hasn't updated ModLoader to 1.4.2 yet. I backed up my minecraft, installed forge, and it went through some things to install forge into the game. It then gave me the menu, and I went into one of my worlds. All it gave me was a black screen, my pointer-thing, and my hotbar. Everything else was black. Then this thing popped up:

Can anybody help?

Don't use MCPatcher. Use Optifine instead.

There's an EAQ for a reason. Read it!

Oh, and logs OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN!!

There's a difference? I thought the only thing they both did was allow HD textures, and then had there own things. So MCPatcher doesn't work with Forge yet?

  • java.lang.NullPointerException with com.pclewis.mcpatcher.mod.something: For the love of god, don't use MCPatcher. Use OptiFine instead.

Yes. There is a significant difference: Optifine is compatible with Forge. MCPatcher isn't.
