[1.7.10] setDead method

I am making a set dead method for my mob, basically its going to be part of a death animation. on death the mob is supposed to spawn particles. problem is it doesn't work.

public void setDead(){ 
     if(!this.worldObj.isRemote){ 
         for (int i = 0; i < 2; ++i)
         {
             worldObj.spawnParticle("lava", this.posX, this.posY, this.posZ, 0.0F, 0.0F, 0.0F);
         }
    	 
     }
     super.setDead();
}
}

Im serious don't look at it!!
