Hi!

I had a question about the mc terrain generation

as far as i know the terrain renders per chunk, from y=0 to y=256

so if you fly around the world each chunk that is generated goes from 0 to 256

Is it possible to edit the terrain generation so you can make a world 2000 blocks deep, but it only generates the first 200 blocks, and if you go deeper it generates a new 200 blocks deeper.

does the world.dat support a 2000 deep block world, or even deeper?

how crazy can i go with this?

I never made a mod for minecraft but i think i have a pretty good idea so i want to accept the challenge and try make a mod. but i think this is pretty hard to edit the full terrain generation

Sorry for my bad english,

thanks for help!

There is a mod out there called Cubic chunks, which tries to add more height to the world.

However, this is not supported by forge and causes major issues with mods and saves because its a fundamental change to the world format/game format.

This is not 'simple' and not something that we'd support.

I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated.
