got a few questions about fernflower and specifically the dependancies it uses but I cant for the life of me find any discussion options to ask but since also how is forge related to Fernflower? is that how yas keep up with decompiles for new versions? or using some other method like MCP (which I doubt) so figured kill 2 birds one stone..

Actually was trying to compile a new version of FF but having some library issues for the most part why I was hoping for a 'proper place' to inquire about such things.  Albiet being far from an expert in java not sure if issues with the test libraries would even matter.  but the core of what Im looking at doing is fixing some core minecraft server code myself so been trying to find out how forge and other 3rd parties get into that possibly supply .patches to the masses as optional fixes  :o    So going along with this decided to play with fernflower myself and then hit that small roadblock so my inquiring mind wanted to ask somewhere (heck could be the fact Im using netbeans  ::) )

Forge dev workspace is simple to use.

And our fork of FF has gradle wrapper that builds it and manages everything just fine.

If you can't figure out the simple processes for using those then you should probalbly try researching and probably would derp up things in MC itself if you started 'fixing some core minecraft server code' -.-

I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated.

yeah I havent played with forge yet..  I have the copy NMS source already decompiled and deobfuscated.  And sadly the only reason Im even playing with such a notion is due to Mojangs refusal to even remotely apply fixes to older versions. (and 1.8.8 is soon to be considered one of them versions).

I just appreciate your team here and other 3rd parties that actually do patch and fix/mod stuff at the NMS level.    If I ever came up with such a thing Im just trying to look into how hard it would be to share with all 3rd parties like you and other developers.  And offer a PR for anything that might be of worth...

I mean one perfect example of even if this was a personal change for myself.  ;D Blazes have a player tracking range of 45m.  :o  not to mention even their crappy targeting algorithm that was majorly changed in 1.8.x

You can change whatever you want but I would strongly advise against doing base edits especially if your goal is to release them for old versions.

Old versions have been replaced with new ones for reasons, you should update.

oddly that is the exact same thing they say but Im referring to 1.8.8 which is the latest which is already unsupported by someone because they focusing on snapshots to release 1.9 but eh who am I to believe that history wont repeat itself...when it comes to poor upgrading compatibility....  l8tr.

They don't update 1.8.8 because when mojang releases a version it's final, they would gave to release 1.8.9. Which is possible, IF the bugs are big enough.

How about this, what if there was a community project, that edited Minecraft, fixed its bugs, while also adding in extra features that modders could use.

Something that could take all the different things that are wrong with Minecraft and mods, and reForge them into something that better...

God, I wish there was a project like that..

    • I am creating a mod that adds new armor sets and changes how armor sets are crafted. When the player interacts with the block it fails to open the gui, but I get no error or stacktrace. All of my registration classes are being called correctly. LightArmorBenchScreen's constructor, render, and renderbg methods are not being called at all. Here is the code: package net.leeveygames.celestial.blocks.custom; import net.leeveygames.celestial.Celestial; import net.leeveygames.celestial.blocks.entity.CelestialBlockEntities; import net.leeveygames.celestial.blocks.entity.LightArmorBenchBlockEntity; import net.minecraft.core.BlockPos; import net.minecraft.server.level.ServerPlayer; import net.minecraft.world.InteractionHand; import net.minecraft.world.InteractionResult; import net.minecraft.world.entity.player.Player; import net.minecraft.world.level.BlockGetter; import net.minecraft.world.level.Level; import net.minecraft.world.level.block.BaseEntityBlock; import net.minecraft.world.level.block.Block; import net.minecraft.world.level.block.RenderShape; import net.minecraft.world.level.block.entity.BlockEntity; import net.minecraft.world.level.block.entity.BlockEntityTicker; import net.minecraft.world.level.block.entity.BlockEntityType; import net.minecraft.world.level.block.state.BlockState; import net.minecraft.world.phys.BlockHitResult; import net.minecraft.world.phys.shapes.CollisionContext; import net.minecraft.world.phys.shapes.VoxelShape; import net.minecraftforge.network.NetworkHooks; import org.jetbrains.annotations.NotNull; import org.jetbrains.annotations.Nullable; public class LightArmorBenchBlock extends BaseEntityBlock { public static final VoxelShape SHAPE = Block.box(0, 0, 0, 16, 12, 16); public LightArmorBenchBlock(Properties pProperties) { super(pProperties); } @Override public VoxelShape getShape(BlockState pState, BlockGetter pLevel, BlockPos pPos, CollisionContext pContext) { return SHAPE; } @Override public RenderShape getRenderShape(BlockState pState) { return RenderShape.MODEL; } @Override public void onRemove(BlockState pState, Level pLevel, BlockPos pPos, BlockState pNewState, boolean pIsMoving) { if (pState.getBlock() != pNewState.getBlock()) { BlockEntity blockEntity = pLevel.getBlockEntity(pPos); if (blockEntity instanceof LightArmorBenchBlockEntity) { ((LightArmorBenchBlockEntity) blockEntity).drops(); } } super.onRemove(pState, pLevel, pPos, pNewState, pIsMoving); } @NotNull @Override public InteractionResult use(BlockState pState, Level pLevel, BlockPos pPos, Player pPlayer, InteractionHand pHand, BlockHitResult pHit) { if(pLevel.isClientSide()) return InteractionResult.SUCCESS; BlockEntity be = pLevel.getBlockEntity(pPos); if (be instanceof LightArmorBenchBlockEntity blockEntity) { ServerPlayer player = (ServerPlayer)pPlayer; Celestial.LOGGER.info("Opening Screen."); NetworkHooks.openScreen(player, blockEntity, pPos); } return InteractionResult.CONSUME; } @Nullable @Override public BlockEntity newBlockEntity(BlockPos pPos, BlockState pState) { return new LightArmorBenchBlockEntity(pPos, pState); } @Nullable @Override public <T extends BlockEntity> BlockEntityTicker<T> getTicker(Level pLevel, BlockState pState, BlockEntityType<T> pBlockEntityType) { if(pLevel.isClientSide()) { return null; } return createTickerHelper(pBlockEntityType, CelestialBlockEntities.LIGHT_ARMOR_BENCH_BLOCK_ENTITY.get(), (pLevel1, pPos, pState1, pBlockEntity) -> pBlockEntity.tick(pLevel1, pPos, pState1)); } }   package net.leeveygames.celestial.screen; import net.leeveygames.celestial.Celestial; import net.leeveygames.celestial.blocks.CelestialBlocks; import net.leeveygames.celestial.blocks.entity.LightArmorBenchBlockEntity; import net.minecraft.network.FriendlyByteBuf; import net.minecraft.world.entity.player.Inventory; import net.minecraft.world.entity.player.Player; import net.minecraft.world.inventory.*; import net.minecraft.world.item.ItemStack; import net.minecraft.world.level.Level; import net.minecraft.world.level.block.entity.BlockEntity; import net.minecraftforge.common.capabilities.ForgeCapabilities; import net.minecraftforge.items.SlotItemHandler; public class LightArmorBenchMenu extends AbstractContainerMenu { public final LightArmorBenchBlockEntity blockEntity; private final Level level; public LightArmorBenchMenu(int pContainerId, Inventory inv, FriendlyByteBuf extraData) { this(pContainerId, inv, inv.player.level().getBlockEntity(extraData.readBlockPos())); Celestial.LOGGER.info("Creating Light Armor Bench Menu.
