I downloaded the Forge and extracted files on my Windows 10 Home Edition desktop and I am missing the gradlew files.

Is this a new setup/

    The installer installs a regular client/server. To develop mods, you need the Mod Development Kit (MDK).

    Please don't PM me to ask for help. Asking your question in a public thread preserves it for people who are having the same problem in the future.

    So from the page where I selected the win installer I also have to download the MDK file that is next to installer?

    Also, the 1.8 forge will not work with Minecraft 1.8.8? The reason why I ask is that I see on a Youtube the narrator selects the 1.8 version of Minecraft.
