I have not play Minecraft. My 8 years son wants to install Forge and I have been trying to help him unsuccessfully. He have a Windows 10 with Windows Edge and apparently Forge is not compatible with it. I really don't know. If some one kindly give me fool proof step by step instructions to do it my son and I will be very happy.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply. But following the Wiki video my computer does not have the .jar file extension option. And when trying to download Java I received a message that Windows Edge does not support Java. I still lost .

That message just means that Microsoft Edge won't run websites that use the Java plugin. You can still download and install Java to run Java applications like Minecraft.

Please don't PM me to ask for help. Asking your question in a public thread preserves it for people who are having the same problem in the future.

I manage to install Java with the Windows Edge option Open  with Explorer and then  installed Forge. Great! Thanks for the replies. Most probably will come back to learn about forge and mods. My son surely will ask.
