I'm trying to make it so when you have the full set of armor on and when a mob or player hits me they are set on fire. Similar to thorns but with fire.

Subscribe to Living Hurt event, check if entity hurt is a player, check if he has full armor on aaaand set em on fire

  • Author

I tried this

@SubscribeEvent

public void LivingHurtEvent(EntityLivingBase entity, DamageSource source, float ammount, EntityPlayer player)

{

if(entity instanceof EntityLiving && player.getCurrentArmor(3) != null && player.getCurrentArmor(3).getItem().equals(PItems.phoenixHelmet) && player.getCurrentArmor(2) != null && player.getCurrentArmor(2).getItem().equals(PItems.phoenixChestplate) && player.getCurrentArmor(1) != null && player.getCurrentArmor(1).getItem().equals(PItems.phoenixLeggings) && player.getCurrentArmor(0) != null && player.getCurrentArmor(0).getItem().equals(PItems.phoenixBoots))

{

entity.setFire(10);

}

}

Read the tutorial properly, event handler methods can only have a single argument (the event that they handle).

Please don't PM me to ask for help. Asking your question in a public thread preserves it for people who are having the same problem in the future.

Ok now i tried this:

@SubscribeEvent

public void livingEvent(LivingHurtEvent event)

{

if(event.entityLiving instanceof EntityPlayer && player.getCurrentArmor(3) != null && player.getCurrentArmor(3).getItem().equals(PItems.phoenixHelmet) && player.getCurrentArmor(2) != null && player.getCurrentArmor(2).getItem().equals(PItems.phoenixChestplate) && player.getCurrentArmor(1) != null && player.getCurrentArmor(1).getItem().equals(PItems.phoenixLeggings) && player.getCurrentArmor(0) != null && player.getCurrentArmor(0).getItem().equals(PItems.phoenixBoots))

{

event.entityLiving.setFire(10);

}

}

And?

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable.  If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME.  Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.

Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked.

DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.

Where are you getting

player

from? You must get all data from the event itself.

LivingHurtEvent#entityLiving

is the entity that was hurt.

LivingHurtEvent#source

is the

DamageSource

that caused the damage.

DamageSource#getEntity

will get the

Entity

that caused the damage, if any (this will be

null

if the damage wasn't caused by an entity).

Please don't PM me to ask for help. Asking your question in a public thread preserves it for people who are having the same problem in the future.

Check if the hurt entity is a player. If it is, cast it to

EntityPlayer

and then check if it's wearing your armour.

If you want the effect to apply to any living entity wearing the armour rather than just players, skip the player check and use

EntityLivingBase#getEquipmentInSlot

to check the armour.

Still nothing:

@SubscribeEvent

public void livingEvent(LivingHurtEvent event)

{

if(event.entityLiving instanceof EntityPlayer && event.entityLiving.getEquipmentInSlot(1).getItem() == PItems.phoenixHelmet && event.entityLiving.getEquipmentInSlot(2).getItem() == PItems.phoenixChestplate && event.entityLiving.getEquipmentInSlot(3).getItem() == PItems.phoenixLeggings && event.entityLiving.getEquipmentInSlot(4).getItem() == PItems.phoenixBoots)

{

event.source.getEntity().setFire(10);

}

}

Still nothing:

@SubscribeEvent

public void livingEvent(LivingHurtEvent event)

{

if(event.entityLiving instanceof EntityPlayer && event.entityLiving.getEquipmentInSlot(1).getItem() == PItems.phoenixHelmet && event.entityLiving.getEquipmentInSlot(2).getItem() == PItems.phoenixChestplate && event.entityLiving.getEquipmentInSlot(3).getItem() == PItems.phoenixLeggings && event.entityLiving.getEquipmentInSlot(4).getItem() == PItems.phoenixBoots)

{

event.source.getEntity().setFire(10);

}

}

try this:

@SubscribeEvent
   public void livingEvent(LivingHurtEvent event)
   {
      if(event.entityLiving instanceof EntityPlayer)
      {
    	 EntityPlayer player = (EntityPlayer) event.entityLiving;
    	  if(player.inventory.armorItemInSlot(3) != null && player.inventory.armorItemInSlot(3).getItem() == MODID.HELMET && player.inventory.armorItemInSlot(2) != null && player.inventory.armorItemInSlot(2).getItem() == MODID.CHESTPLATE && player.inventory.armorItemInSlot(1) != null && player.inventory.armorItemInSlot(1).getItem() == MODID.LEGGINGS && player.inventory.armorItemInSlot(0) != null && player.inventory.armorItemInSlot(0).getItem() == MODID.BOOTS) {
         event.source.getEntity().setFire(10);
      }
   }}

this should work fine. dont try to check everything in one if statement.

It is working with setting entities on fire, but when I take any other damage besides from a mob or a whole bunch of mobs attack me at once it crashes.

try to check if the damage is by a mob.

because your currently code tries to set everying burning which hurts you, but some of them are no entities so they can't be set on fire, if the player gets drown damage the source will be the water, but water is no entity so check if the damage source is by an entity.

"My Crew is World Wide." 「ヤング • エルトウ」

in your method where you set the entity on fire add this:

if(event.source.getSourceOfDamage() != null)
            event.source.getSourceOfDamage().setFire(10);
