Posted April 25, 20169 yr well again as title says i want to know how to change a custom entity name with specific color. for example i have a dragon entity and i want his name to render in black name so what should i do? kindly guide me thanks.
April 25, 20169 yr Author private String name="FuriousDrag"+ChatFormatting.BLACK; and this is how i call it in constructor of entity this.setCustomNameTag(name); seems to not work.
April 25, 20169 yr "" + ChatFormatting.BLACK + name Try doing name = "" + ChatFormatting.BLACK + "FuriousDrag"; You know, sometimes the order matters.
April 25, 20169 yr I understand that putting the chat formatting before the text of the name means that part will be black, but what causes you to need the quotes before that? just curious - Just because things are the way they are doesn't mean they can't be the way you want them to be. Unless they're aspen trees. You can tell they're aspens 'cause the way they are.
April 25, 20169 yr In some languages in some cases you need an empty string to get the compiler to understand that you want a string here (and not something else, like an integer, which can be implicitly converted to a string, but only does so if the object its being added with is already a string). e.g. string someString = 1; //no good string someString = ""+1; //good But ChatFormatting.BLACK is already a string, so there's no need. Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable. If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME. Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice. Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked. DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.
