Posted May 6, 20169 yr Hi, I can't seem to get blocks to work, only items, does anyone know what I should do? This is my code: package com.MonstrousApple.mod.handler; import com.MonstrousApple.mod.blocks.MABlocks; import com.MonstrousApple.mod.items.MAItems; import net.minecraft.item.ItemStack; import net.minecraftforge.fml.common.IFuelHandler; public class MAFuelHandler implements IFuelHandler { @Override public int getBurnTime(ItemStack fuel) { if(fuel.getItem() == MABlocks.CompressedCoalBlock) return 80000; return 0; } }
May 6, 20169 yr What IDE are you using? Most should toss you an error if you attempt to compare incompatible objects like that. http://minecraft.curseforge.com/members/sblectric/projects
May 6, 20169 yr Author I tried that and it don't work though I do have an error but I'm not sure what I'm actually doing wrong do you know the fix? And I'm usign eclipse and I was getting an error but I tried the item from block before and got an error too. package com.MonstrousApple.mod.handler; import com.MonstrousApple.mod.blocks.MABlocks; import com.MonstrousApple.mod.items.MAItems; import net.minecraft.item.Item; import net.minecraft.item.ItemStack; import net.minecraftforge.fml.common.IFuelHandler; public class MAFuelHandler implements IFuelHandler { @Override public int getBurnTime(ItemStack fuel) { if(fuel.Item.getItemFromBlock() == MABlocks.CompressedCoalBlock) return 80000; return 0; } }
May 6, 20169 yr That's because you actually have to know what the methods are doing. fuel.Item.getItemFromBlock() I have a feeling you don't have a firm grasp of java. The correct implementation is if(fuel.getItem() == Item.getItemFromBlock(MABlocks.CompressedCoalBlock)) return 80000; http://minecraft.curseforge.com/members/sblectric/projects
May 6, 20169 yr What IDE are you using? Most should toss you an error if you attempt to compare incompatible objects like that. Java actually doesn't care. There's all kinds of interfaces ( Comparable ) and subclassing that you/Forege/Mojang could be doing and aren't that would allow the two types to be compared meaningfully. There's no way for the IDE to determine that. Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable. If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME. Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice. Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked. DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.
May 7, 20169 yr Author Thanks everyone it works now, and yeah I'm not the best with java but I can do most of the needed stuff.
