Posted June 22, 20169 yr I need a item to stay in the crafting grid after its used in a recipe but after it is used in one the durabilty goes down each time. I'm pretty sure the code is correct but it wont work. The item stays in the crafting grid but it doesn't take damage! ItemKnife code: package MoarFoodsItemsClass; import java.util.Set; import com.seanomik.moarfoods.MainRegistry; import net.minecraft.item.Item; import net.minecraft.item.ItemStack; public class ItemKnife extends Item { public ItemKnife() { super(); maxStackSize = 1; setMaxDamage(64); setNoRepair(); this.setUnlocalizedName("knife"); this.setCreativeTab(MainRegistry.moarfoodsTab); this.setContainerItem(this); } public boolean doesContainerItemLeaveCraftingGrid(ItemStack itemstack) { return false; } } The recipe the item in used in: GameRegistry.addRecipe(new ItemStack(MoarFoodsItems.tuna, 4), new Object[] { " ", "k ", "fp ", 'p', MoarFoodsItems.pickle, 'f', Items.cooked_fish, 'k', new ItemStack(MoarFoodsItems.knife, 1, -1)}); Developer of "A Realistic Foods Mod"
June 22, 20169 yr Did you set your item to override hasContainerItem and getContainerItem? Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable. If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME. Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice. Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked. DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.

June 23, 20169 yr Author You override them in your Item class. getContainerItem is called to provide an ItemStack that should be left behind in the crafting grid (water buckets for example return empty buckets here). hasContainerItem is called to determine if getContainerItem needs to be called. Did you set your item to override hasContainerItem and getContainerItem? Thanks both of you it works now! Developer of "A Realistic Foods Mod"
