Update: I changed where my entity is being registered, from preInit to init in my main class and edited my entity mob class. When I entered the /summon command and clicked the spawn egg, it's spawned! But the entity that is being spawned is that of a villager and not my custom mob

It appeared that there was something wrong in my rendering code. I attempted to use the RenderingRegistry#registerEntityRenderingHandler's IRenderFactory method instead of the Render extends Entity method.

Here's my IRenderFactory "way",

RenderingRegistry.registerEntityRenderingHandler(EntityJayGarrick.class, new IRenderFactory<EntityJayGarrick>()
			{
				@Override
				public Render<? super EntityJayGarrick> createRenderFor(RenderManager manager)
				{
					return new RenderJayGarrick(manager);
				}
			});
