Look, I'm just a loser who was just introduced to coding.

This is most likely very obvious, but I'm just a loser

I was trying to give an item a potion effect to you when you use it, but it is not working

here is the code in the item class:

public void onItemUse(World world, int x, int y, int z, Entity entity){

((EntityLivingBase) entity).addPotionEffect(new PotionEffect(Diamines.Death.id, 300, 1, false));

p.s. i was following a tutorial...

Hmm, is your onItemUse ever called at all? (System.out.println("This works") is a lifesaver for testing)

Is the onItemUse using the @Override annotation? Last I checked, onItemUse requires more variables ( onItemUse(ItemStack stack, EntityPlayer player, World world, int x, int y, int z, int par7, float xFloat, float yFloat, float zFloat))

You can try onItemRightClick instead, which only requires ItemStack stack, World world, EntityPlayer player variables.
