Allocate more ram into minecraft server.

I have made a working server for me and my friend but he is slightly lagging i would allocate 4GB of ram. Also i will be adding mods to it. And i have just remembered it says im using 4GB of ram but when my mate checks his stats (F3) it says he is only using 1GB?

Side note, you can't allocate more ram on the client from the server.

Which is what it sounds like you think you're doing.

Your friend needs to allocate his ram himself.

I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated.
