[1.10.2] Change a placed block texture

So I was following along MineMaarten video tutorials about modding on 1.7.10 and it came to a part where a tile entity would store an ItemStack and change the associated block texture with the texture from the Item the player right clicked.

The thing is on 1.7.10 you would use the getIcon method to retrieve the block IIcon and from there it's pretty easy. Now on 1.10 there's no getIcon. In fact it seems all very different with the block states and all. So how would you go about doing that on 1.10? If someone would be so kind to explain to me, I would like to understand how to retrieve a block texture and/or how to set it. Thanks!

I have a feeling the easiest way to do this would be to use the PropertyBooleans and getActualBlockState(...) IF you are not going to have many items that do this. If you are going to have many items that does this effect I would suggest IBakedModels.

VANILLA MINECRAFT CLASSES ARE THE BEST RESOURCES WHEN MODDING

I will be posting 1.15.2 modding tutorials on this channel. If you want to be notified of it do the normal YouTube stuff like subscribing, ect.

Forge and vanilla BlockState generator.
