problems with src folder and build path

im newb, and I couldnt find any decent tutorials on the file system of eclipse so i came here

This is my problem. From a tut, i was told that ctrl+shift+o would insert all of the imports. However it is giving me this "resource is not on a build path of a java project" dialog

Trying to set the folder as the src folder creates confusion in the code.

Everything in the cpw package moved to net.minecraftforge.

Rather than typing out imports, let your IDE do it for you.  Remove all your import lines, then hover over each object one after the other and import the right thing (or hit ctrl-O).

Also, do not do

Main instance = new Main()

, that "new Main()" portion is unnecessary and will be overwritten by Forge when it instantiates your mod.

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable.  If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME.  Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.

Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked.

DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.

A Minecraft modding tutorial wouldn't help you with the problems you have.  You need to have a stronger understanding of OOP first.

I was hoping i would get a refresher THROUGH the tutorials. I know how code works, i just dont know java, or forge. I went through three different classes showing the basics of OOP with python, C++, and C#. but given its been a while since i last needed to use it ... I should probably go through a quick refresher anyways. I have forgotten all the terms

What exactly did i miss that i should have gotten?

There's your problem. Description of Modder Support:

This is the support section for those modding with Forge. Help with modding goes in here, however, please keep in mind that this is not a Java school. You are expected to have basic knowledge of Java before posting here.

Don't PM me with questions. They will be ignored! Make a thread on the appropriate board for support.

1.12 -> 1.13 primer by williewillus.

1.7.10 and older versions of Minecraft are no longer supported due to it's age! Update to the latest version for support.
