no executable .jar file?

no matter which version i try to download it for, or witch version (win install or mdk or anything like that), it only downloads the json file and not the jar file and then when i try to run it, my game crashes. im mostly trying it for 1.11 but ive also tried it for 1.10.1. if you have any idea whats going on i would really appreciate the help.

im using the new launcher and have tried every method ive seen in the other articles.  when i click on the installer, it downloads and says "now in your launcher" but when i look in my version files and look in the new fore folder, then only thing that's there is the json file and no jar file.

ive tried deleting it and clearing my recycle bin and deleting the profile off the launcher and things like that so idk what to do next. ill try those again though if you think it would help

Remove the coremods you have installed.

And we have not 'downloaded' a jar file into the versions folder for over a year now. 

That jar file was only ever needed because the launcher required it.

That jar file was VANILLA MINECRAFT not Forge.

 

I don't get why people are hung up on this... It's a simple concept you don't need a jar file in every versions folder!

 

You should also post the FML log not crash.txt as that's not really useful information.

Something in one of the coremods you have installed is screwing up the patching process for ItemBlock. So remove the coremods you have installed.

I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated.

Thanks so much, its now working perfectly, the reason so many people (including me) get hung up on little things like that is that we have no idea whats needed and whats not. like in a car, an alien would have no clue the radio is not essential to the cars functioning even though a mechanic would know that he could remove half the car and it still works fine.

I can kinda understand that, however, the installer that was written by the people who know what they are doing, says everything installed fine. Just trust it.

I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated.

      Rubidium and Embeddium are versions of the same mod, you can only have one. I believe Embeddium is the one that's actively maintained.

      Hello, New to modding, but have a solid CS foundation. I've created multiple custom BlockEntities that all have the same issue, which is that the inventory only updates on right click (overriding the useItemOn method). I've seen multiple posts on here outlining a similar issue to mine, but I've already implemented the solution of: overriding the correct methods in the BlockEntity class and calling setChanged(). I've tried every different place for setChanged() to no success. I'm wondering if I'm missing something else or if there was some change to sending data to the client in 1.21.5? Or will I have to use a custom packet sender?       I'm just really confused. This bug only applies to modpacks made by me. i have tried using different launchers prism, modrinth etc. I have tried with multiple modpacks. All of this has not prevented this bug.       I've just started modding, and I'm trying to make custom swords. When I try to import SwordItem, I get the error:  What confuses me is that other item classes work fine: package io.github.xxx.denseswords.item; import io.github.xxx.denseswords.DenseSwords; import net.minecraft.world.item.Item; // works fine import net.minecraft.world.item.ShovelItem; // works fine import net.minecraft.world.item.SwordItem; // Error: The import cannot be resolved import net.minecraftforge.registries.DeferredRegister; import net.minecraftforge.registries.RegistryObject; Forge MDK v55.0.15 - Minecraft 1.21.5 Java v24.0.1 Windows 11 IDE: Visual Studio Code
