Hello there,

I am getting a weird error when I load my Minecraft game. Everything loads fine and Minecraft goes into the main menu but in the eclipse console it shows this:

^ yes that is the part of the console where the error is.

I have tried everything I could think of but nothing works.

The things I have tried are:

-Changing the Block/cube_all to builtin/generated

-Checked all the code and compared it to the tutorial I was using(EVERYTHING IS THE SAME)

-Changed it all to lowercase

NOTHING WORKS!

Thanks.

Now it's saying Syntax error, insert "VariableDeclarators" to complete LocalVariableDeclaration. I have no idea what this means. BTW I have only done a little java, this is where I got stuck last time I think when I tried to make a 1.9 mod.

You need to know basic java to be able to make a mod. You can start here.

Ok here is the package:

package scytherhq.EvenMore;

import net.minecraft.block.Block;
import net.minecraft.client.renderer.block.model.ModelResourceLocation;
import net.minecraft.item.Item;
import net.minecraftforge.client.model.ModelLoader;
import net.minecraftforge.fml.common.Mod;
import net.minecraftforge.fml.common.Mod.EventHandler;
import net.minecraftforge.fml.common.Mod.Instance;
import net.minecraftforge.fml.common.SidedProxy;
import net.minecraftforge.fml.common.event.FMLInitializationEvent;
import net.minecraftforge.fml.common.event.FMLPostInitializationEvent;
import net.minecraftforge.fml.common.event.FMLPreInitializationEvent;
import net.minecraftforge.fml.common.event.FMLServerStartingEvent;
import scytherhq.EvenMore.init.ModBlocks;
import scytherhq.EvenMore.init.ModItems;
import scytherhq.EvenMore.proxy.CommonProxy;

@Mod(modid = Reference.MOD_ID, name = Reference.MOD_NAME, version = Reference.VERSION)
public class EvenMoreMod {

    @Instance
    public static EvenMoreMod instance;

    @SidedProxy(clientSide = Reference.CLIENT_PROXY_CLASS, serverSide = Reference.SERVER_PROXY_CLASS)
    public static CommonProxy proxy;

    @EventHandler
    public void preInit(FMLPreInitializationEvent event)
    {
        ModItems.init();
        ModItems.register();

        ModBlocks.init();
        ModBlocks.register();

        Block block = null;
        ModelLoader.setCustomModelResourceLocation(Item.getItemFromBlock(block), 0, new ModelResourceLocation(block.getRegistryName(), "inventory"));
                                                                                                            //^This is where it gives me the warning
    }

    @EventHandler
    public void init(FMLInitializationEvent event)
    {
        proxy.init();
    }

    @EventHandler
    public void postInit(FMLPostInitializationEvent event)
    {

    }

    @EventHandler
    public void serverLoad(FMLServerStartingEvent event){

    }
}

The warning says Null pointer access: the variable block can only be null at this location.

Yeah, that's because you create a variable and set it to null, then try to use it. Please learn some general java or you won't be able to make much progress here.

Yeah but what do I put instead of null.

Think about what you're trying to do with this method. You want to register a model for a block, right? Which block do you want to register the model for? Is it a 'null' block? Or is it one of the blocks you've already created and that doesn't have a model?

java.lang.NullPointerException: Initializing game
    at scytherhq.EvenMore.EvenMoreMod.preInit(EvenMoreMod.java:45)

It's a NullPointerException at line 45 of the main class - presumably that's the line with the model registration method. Post your ModBlocks class (please use code tags (the <> icon) and a spoiler (eye icon), it makes it much easier to read).

Also, what are you trying to do here? this method does nothing.

private static Block registerBlock(Block block) {
        return block;
}

Yes here is the constructor. It is in the reference.java class.

Spoiler

public static enum EvenMoreBlocks{
        SAPPHIREBRICK("sapphirebrick","BlockSapphireBrick");

        private String unlocalizedname;
        private String registryName;

        EvenMoreBlocks(String unlocalizedName, String registryName){
            this.unlocalizedname = unlocalizedName;
            this.registryName = registryName;
        }

        public String getUnlocalizedname(){
            return unlocalizedname;
        }

        public String getRegistryName(){
            return registryName;
        }
    }
}

Here is the setRegistryName. It is in the BlockSapphireBrick.java class:

package scytherhq.EvenMore.blocks;

import scytherhq.EvenMore.Reference;
import net.minecraft.block.Block;
import net.minecraft.block.material.Material;

public class BlockSapphireBrick extends Block {

    public BlockSapphireBrick() {
        super(Material.rock);
        setUnlocalizedName(Reference.EvenMoreBlocks.SAPPHIREBRICK.getUnlocalizedname());
        setRegistryName(Reference.EvenMoreBlocks.SAPPHIREBRICK.getRegistryName());
    }

}

^ ModBlocks Class. I have literally no idea what I've done wrong.

Start by stepping through the code using the debugger to find out which variable is null at that line. Once you know that, you can work backwards to find out why it is null and then fix it.

    • Version 1.19 - Forge 41.0.63 I want to create a wolf entity that I can ride, so far it seems to be working, but the problem is that when I get on the wolf, I can’t control it. I then discovered that the issue is that the server doesn’t detect that I’m riding the wolf, so I’m struggling with synchronization. However, it seems to not be working properly. As I understand it, the server receives the packet but doesn’t register it correctly. I’m a bit new to Java, and I’ll try to provide all the relevant code and prints *The comments and prints are translated by chatgpt since they were originally in Spanish* Thank you very much in advance No player is mounted, or the passenger is not a player.
