Hello,

I'm pretty new to Forge modding, and I'm hoping to create what I would hope is a relatively easy mod.  Searching for a solution failed me, but it might be because I don't know how to ask the question properly.

Essentially, what I want to do is, if a player creates/activates a custom block, new monsters cannot spawn within a certain range of that block.

I see how I would do it by directly modifying the Minecraft code, but is there a way to accomplish it within Forge?  I basically want to catch the general entity spawning event and cancel it under the appropriate conditions.

Read up the code for how monsters are spawned, and see what conditions are meat and what forgeHooks are triggered, also searching the documentation for spawn event's might result inn something. I'm not familiar with the spawn code so I can't give you any other answer than what I would have had to do in order to figure it out :)

But yeah I believe it should be possible to do something like that :)

If you guys dont get it.. then well ya.. try harder...

Aha!  It looks like there's a canEntitySpawn event fired off that I can hook into.  Pretty obvious, just hadn't figured out where to look.    Thank you very much for your help!
