Hello everyone,

I'm sorry if this was already posted, but I have installed the latest Forge to go with Minecraft 1.11.2, and have yet to install any mods. However, starting with the Forge profile that appears in the Minecraft Launcher first crashes the launcher, and once back in, says something to the effect of 'The version you are trying to play inherits properties from an unknown version.'

I also could not find any official walkthrough to install Forge, which probably doesn't help me.

By running Vanilla, do you mean simply opening Minecraft, and once inside the main menu, quitting, or actually going into a Multiplayer or Singleplayer Server?

Just running the game is enough, you shouldn't need to load a world or connect to a server.

Please don't PM me to ask for help. Asking your question in a public thread preserves it for people who are having the same problem in the future.
